INVESTING IN

Commissioner Lieberman is a trusted advocate for our region and its people. We all know her because she is involved in issues we care about. Debbie champions issues such as developing new workforce and training opportunities, ex-offender reentry, universal high-quality preschool, attracting new jobs to the community, and reducing poverty. You are equally likely to find her building consensus in a meeting or reading to children. I think this balance makes her a better leader.

Community Well-Being
To create a community in which all citizens can succeed we must provide services to our citizens who face obstacles to leading a safe, healthy, and productive life.
- Utilize the Community Overdose Action Team (COAT) to develop systems to address prevention and treatment of drug addiction throughout the community
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, system-wide approach to improve community food security through the Food Equity Coalition
- Advocate for justice programs that provide alternatives to incarceration
- Support returning citizens with programs to minimize barriers to reentry and reduce recidivism
- Provide quality of life and quality of care for our most vulnerable individuals of all ages including those with severe to profound intellectual disabilities, who are physically challenged, and/or have significant medical needs
- Advance systems to end chronic homelessness and reduce overall homelessnes

Debbie’s work is woven into the fabric of so many facets of our community that it is harder to find an area she has not influenced. From work to boost our economic development, to improving the lives of our most at-risk residents, to deep involvement in the many projects that are changing the face of our city, she is dedicated to Dayton. For these efforts, she is more than deserving of the top honor that is bestowed upon a leader from our region.
